Как вы уже наверняка заметили, суть Ogame - собрать столько ресурсов, сколько вы сможете, чтобы вложить их в постройки и другие структуры, т.е. в очки. Помимо производства рудников, которое легко получить, вы можете получить ресурсы с помощью рейдов, что означает атаки на других игроков, которые будут описаны в следующей главе. Но не каждого игрока стоит атаковать, и не каждый может быть просто атакован. Шпионаж дает вам возможность проверить как много ресурсов, кораблей и оборонительных сооружений находится на планетах ваших соседей.

As you already have noticed for sure, OGame is about collecting as mush resources as you can, to invest them in buildings and structures – therefore in points. Besides the mine production, which is easy to reach, you can get resources also by raids, which means, attacks on other players, which will be explained in the next chapter {{Link|Tutorial:Raids}}. But not any player is a worthwhile target, and not anybody can just be attacked. Для использования этой функции вам понадобиться исследовать Шпионаж. Это исследование становится доступным очень рано (требование: исследовательская лаборатория 3-го уровня). Первая выгода этого исследования в том, что вы сможете получить больше информации о летящих к вам чужих флотах на первых стадиях вы видите лишь факт приближения чужого флота к вашей планете. Вы сможете увидеть количество кораблей после 2-го уровня технологии, типы летящих кораблей после 4-го уровня, и после 8-го уровня вы сможете увидеть точное количество каждого типа кораблей, приближающихся к вам. To use this feature, you need the espionage technology. First of all, a research, which is available very early (requirements: research lab level 3). The first benefit you get from researching espionage technology is that you can get more information about incoming fleets in the first instance you will only see that a fleet moves towards your planet. You see the total number of the ships with level 2, the present types of ships with level 4 and with level 8 you see exactly how much ships of which kind are approaching you. Если у вас есть шпионские зонды, то у вас есть возможность просканить врагов. Самый быстрый способ это нажать на иконку шпионажа рядом с соответствующей планетой. После этого действия зонды автоматически отправляются к планете (количество отправляемых зондов можно изменить в меню  {{Link|Tutorial:Account settings}}) и собирают информацию. Вы также можете отправить зонды с миссией «Шпионаж» на интересующие вас координаты через меню Флот, используя такой способ вы сможете изменить количество посылаемых зондов вручную.

If you have espionage probes, you will have the opportunity to spy on an enemy. The fastest method is to click on the espionage symbol next to the according planet. Если вы просканите игрока, то получите всю доступную вам информацию в сообщение с разведданными, которое разбито на 5 блоков. Сперва ресурсы – количество имеющихся на планете ресурсов, а так же вырабатываемая энергия – данные, которые вы получите в любом случае; затем информация о флоте, оборонительных сооружениях, а так же о зданиях и исследованиях. Чтобы получить больше информации, чем просто количество имеющихся ресурсов, вам нужно либо поднять уровень шпионской технологии выше, чем у вашего противника, либо послать на задание больше шпионских зондов. Вы легко можете посчитать сколько зондов вам нужно отправить чтобы получить определённую информацию:

If you get an espionage report, then at the end there will always be the value of counter-espionage, which is between 0 % and 100 %. This value specifies the chance of detecting and destroying your probes by an enemy, who you spy on. The higher the chance, the more likely it is that your probes will be detected and engage in battle with the defender's ships and defences present at the planet. Известно, что три вещи влияют на шанс на защиту от шпионажа: количество посылаемых шпионских зондов, разница в уровнях Шпионажа между вами и вашим противником, а так же количество кораблей на орбите планеты. Если на планете, которую вы сканите, нет флота, то ваши зонды обязательно вернуться; больше кораблей на планете – больше шанс, что зонды собьют. Если уровень вашего шпионажа намного выше, чем у противника, то велик шанс, что зонды уцелеют. С другой стороны, если он слишком низок, то всего несколько транспортов и солнечных спутников могут засечь ваши зонды. Так же очень рискованно посылать одновременно большое количество зондов, т.к. они могут быть легко замечены и, как следствие, вы понесете большие потери. Поэтому стоит отправлять больше 2-4 зондов только в случае, если цель действительна представляет большую ценность. Если ваши зонды засекут, то они сразу вступят в бой с флотом и обороной планеты. В большинстве случаев зонды не выдерживают больше одного раунда, т.к. у них очень легкая броня и отсутствует оружие, поэтому вы не получите детального боевого доклада.

Игрок всегда получает сообщение о том, что он был просканен многие игроки не в восторге от того, что вы интересуетесь их планетами. Так что вам стоит сканить тех игроков, которые находятся на вашем уровне. Не стоит провоцировать слишком сильных игроков на кампанию мести против вас.
